Op 13 november 2024 promoveerde dr. Soerajja Bhoelan aan het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) op haar proefschrift getiteld ‘Challenges in predicting recurrence risk of unprovoked venous thromboembolism: a role for infection and inflammation?’ onder begeleiding van promotor prof. dr. K. Meijer en copromotoren dr. Y.I.G.V. Tichelaar en dr. J.F. Borjas Howard (allen: afdeling Hematologie, UMC Groningen). De belangrijkste bevindingen van haar onderzoek worden hier besproken.
