Op 15 juni 2022 promoveerde dr. Jorn Gerritsma aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam op zijn proefschrift getiteld: ‘Red blood cell transfusion in sickle cell disease’, onder begeleiding van promotores prof. dr. K. Fijnvandraat (afdeling Kinderhematologie, Emma Kinderziekenhuis, Amsterdam UMC) en prof. dr. B. Biemond (afdeling Hematologie, Amsterdam UMC) en copromotor dr. A. ten Brinke (afdeling Immunopathologie, Sanquin). De belangrijkste bevindingen van zijn proefschrift worden hier besproken.
