Sommige patiënten met diffuus grootcellig B-cellymfoom (‘diffuse large B cell lymphoma’; DLBCL) ondergaan centraalzenuwstelsel (‘central nervous system’; CNS)-profylaxe, afhankelijk van het risico op verspreiding van de tumorcellen naar dit gebied. Recentelijk is in de DLBCL-richtlijn een wijziging doorgevoerd in het advies voor CNS-profylaxe. Dr. Jeanette Doorduijn, internist-hematoloog in het Erasmus MC en lid van de HOVON-lymfoomwerkgroep, neemt ons mee in de wijziging en de impact hiervan op de praktijk en legt uit welke klinische overwegingen aan de basis liggen van deze aanpassing.
